Sunoco Daytona 500 Board Member Event
Objective
Create a memorable event for members of the Sunoco board and company executives.Strategy
• Create lasting memories and relationships between the board and the executives.• Showcase the power of the NASCAR experience with the Sunoco brand.
• Provide an opportunity for the board to interact with Sunoco drivers and teams.
Results
After being police-escorted to the “World Center of Racing,” board members started the day with a private breakfast in DAYTONA USA. Senior NASCAR industry executives mingled with Sunoco guests and provided insight into the day’s events and state of the industry. Special guests included team owner Roger Penske, NASCAR President Mike Helton, ISC COO John Saunders, and ISC President Lesa Kennedy.We then provided Board members with a VIP lap around the track and posed for a group picture on the 31-degree high-banked turns. Team owner Richard Childress and drivers Jeff Burton and Kevin Harvick gave the Sunoco guests tours of the NASCAR Garage area and Board members viewed the race from the Sunoco suite and were treated to race facts by FOX announcer Mike Joy.
NEXTEL FanView video scanners enabled guests to see replays, lap times and hear team communications.
We capped the day’s activities with tours of the NBC production trailer.
